Gran Poder

This Saturday the 17th of May sees La Paz´s biggest street party. The Fieste De Gran Poder is a religious festival that involves an enormous carnival-like parade throught the centre of La Paz. Dancers, bands and street performers from all over the city and surrounding hinterland descend on La Paz for a spectacular show.

You can wander round the festival route for a while from the morning around 10am or if you really want to see if in comfort just buy a seat in a stand. The 'best' seats are just in front of San Francisco plaza - this is where Evo and all the VIPs sit and it costs about 50 b to have you seat for the day. You can get other seats further down prado or up from San Fran for around 20 B per day. Try to get one where they will keep it for you if you decide to go away for a bit.  Ask in Loki La Paz for details!
