Short description

This trip includes a walk to the highest point on the island of Amantani as well as lodging with families. The people of Amantani have Quechua origin and subside mainly by means of small scale agricultural ventures. The houses are simple and the services are basic – there is no potable water, electricity, or modern bathrooms and showers. This tour is a great opportunity to see the traditional way of life of the people of Lake Titicaca.

*NOTE: this tour departs from Puno which is located 7 hours from Cusco by bus. We can book these buses for you in the Loki travel office.

Navigation time: approximately 3 hours each way.

Day 1

07:30: Pick up (from hostel or AWT office)
08:00: Departure by boat to floating islands.
08:30: Visit of floating islands of Uros
13:30: Arrival in Amantani Island.
14:00: Lunch in local house
15:00: Hike in Amantani
18:00: Dinner / overnight in with local family.

Day 2

08:00: Departure from Amantani to Taquile.
09:00: Arrival in Taquile and walk to village.
10:30: Arrival in main village of Taquile.
12:00: Lunch time (lunch not included).
13:00: Return to main dock (538 steps down).
16:00: Arrival in Puno, drop off at All Ways Travel office.
